ser also means "to be".

You have been working with estar for the last couple of weeks. Every time you have used estar it has to do with describing how you feel.
You have also been working with ser whether you realized it or not. You have used this verb describe a person's personality, dates, and where you are from.

Examples of ser...
¿De dónde eres?
Yo soy de Kentucky.
Hoy es el 3 de febrero.
Enrique es muy popular.
Carmen es inteligente.

You conjugate ser much like estar.
You have the same subject pronouns and everything is in the same order. Ser even has the same translation as estar.
The only difference is when you use ser and when you use estar.
