What Figurative Language is being used

12

What type of Figurative Language?

My brother is a dragon.

My mom’s a teddy bear.

I am a shaggy sheepdog

with a ton of tangled hair.

My father is a monkey.

He likes to make us laugh,

especially my sister,

who is a tall giraffe.

We are a busy family

with many things to do.

Our home is always happy,

but sometimes it’s a zoo.

Harlem

by Langston Hughes

What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up

like a raisin in the sun?

 Or fester like a sore

 And then run?

Does it stink like rotten meat

Or crust and sugar over—

like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags

like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?
