The purpose of the strategy is:

• To Understand what you read

• And remember what you read

Two types of materials that you can use the self-questioning startegy on are:

• Reading Novels

• Reading School textbooks

Students who have learned the self-questioning strategy increased their grades

from "Fs" to "Bs".

When you ask yourself a question as you read,

you will make a prediction as to what the answer will be.

The 5 steps of the self-questioning strategy are:

• A= attend to clues as you read.

• S=Say some questions (make up your own questions)

• K=keep Predictions in mind (after you make the predictions)

• I= Identify the answers (to your previous questions and if you find them in the text)

• T=Talk about the answers(discuss, summarize)
