Area of Rectangles and Squares

-for both shapes, need the sides. *Remember for squares length and width are equal*

 $A=length\ \times\ width$  

Area of Parallelogram

• Base is the bottom of the shape (top or bottom)

• Height is how tall the paralellogram is (inside OR outside shape)

•  $A=base\ \times height$  

Area of a Triangle

• base is the bottom of the triangle

• height represents how tall a triangle is

• Area formula :

   $A=\frac{base\ \times\ height}{2}$  OR  $A=\frac{1}{2}base\times height$  

• height can be inside or outside of the triangle
