So... how do you place metals into a series of reactivity?
React the same mass of metal
Make sure that each metal has a similar surface area (powder, granules or solid)
React each metal with the same amount of water
React each metal with salt solutions of the other metals (e.g. CuSO4, ZnSO4 or AgNO3)
Which metal reacted with the most salt solutions?
Which metal reacted most vigorously?

So...how do you test for Hydrogen Gas?
Trap the gas with thumb on the end of the test tube
Light a splint (long thin piece of wood)
Tip test tube to horizontal (almost!)
Remove thumb and light gas, placeing splint into tube
If a "squeaky pop, it's Hydrogen (explodes)!
