Let's understand first what is a Ratio :

A ratio indicates how many times one number contains another. When two quantities are measured with the same unit, as is often the case, their ratio is a dimensionless number.

Example of a Ratio : 1:6:3/2:8/3:4:6:5

Example : Share 80 in the Ratio of 3:4:1

• First we Add them all : 3 + 4 + 1 = 8.

• Then we Divide 80 ÷ 8 = 10.

• then we Multiply each Number by 10 : 3 × 10 =30/4 × 10 =40/ 1 × 10=10.

• Check again by Adding all the Numbers we Multiplied by 10 : 30+40+10 = 80, so the answer is Correct.
