Battle Of Mobile Bay

Lawson during the battle of the mobile bay was stationed above with six men while the waves were crashing against both of the forces during the big battle. When a shell came on the ship it killed all of the six men except Douglas where he was severely wounded in his leg.

Lawson was thrown overboard into the ocean and was violently continuously battered against the ship. After he recovered he was able to climb back into the ship and fought heroically until the end.
