• A big bill left over from the French and Indian war and King George increased taxes so that the colonist would have to pay for it.

• King George would not let colonist move westward after the French and Indian war.

• Unfair taxes created without any representation of the colonist in Parliment to say "Dude! This is unfair!"

• George Washington was already known as a great solider so he was selected to lead the Continental Army (the army of Patriots)

• 1781 - The victory was the last major battle of the two armies. It ended with the British surrendering
