Countable nouns
Countable nouns are things which can be counted. They have a singular and a plural form.
- An apple, two apples, three apples...
- A banana, two bananas, three bananas...
Examples: eggs, oranges, coins, friends, ideas...

Uncountable nouns
Countable nouns are things which cannot be counted. They only have a singular form.
- Milk (NOT: a milk, two milks...)
- Rice (NOT: a rice, two rices...)
Examples: water, bread, salt, meat, cheese, fire, homework, advice...

Quantifiers
We can also use quantifiers to say how much or how many of something exists. Some, any and a lot of are quantifiers that we can use with both countable and uncountable nouns.

We use some in affirmative sentences.
- I have some rice.
- My mom always buys some tangerines.

We use any with negative sentences and questions.
-Do you have any bananas?
-We don't have any milk.

A lot of
We use a lot of when referring to a large number or amount.
- That's a lot of money.
