Igneous rocks

description

  • Usually gray or black

  • Are formed when magma comes out of the core and cools.

  • unlike most rocks, there is only one specific type of igneous rock that will fizz when in contact with hydrochloric acid(Hl)

Sedimentary rocks

  • These rocks can be all colors except purple and have distinct layers.

  • are formed with rock chips, bones, water, erosion, clay, and time.

  • are often found in Utah(where I live) and other states that used to be underwater.

  • almost all rocks that are sedimentary will fizz when in contact with Hl

Metamorphic rocks

  • they are in all different colors

  • they are formed under intense heat and pressure

  • they have crystals in them sometimes

  • only some metamorphic rocks react to Hl
