Comparative and Superlative Adjectives

2
Comparative and Superlative adjectives make comparisons.
We use the “comparative” to compare one person or thing with another. We often use “than” after a comparative.
We use the “superlative” to compare one person or thing with more than one person or thing of the same group. We often use “the” before a superlative.
3
Comparative Adjectives
For most words, just an -er to the end of the base word (tall changes to taller).
For words longer than 3 syllables, add the word "more" in front of the base word (beautiful changes to more beautiful not beautifuler).
4
Superlative Adjectives
For most words, just an -est to the end of the base word (fast changes to the fastest).
For words longer than 3 syllables, add the word "most" in front of the base word (intelligent changes to the most intelligent).
5
Watch out!
NEVER use more/most + er/est with the base word. In other words, never say, "You are the most tallest person" or "I am more faster than you". You can do one or the other but NOT both.
