#3. Explain how the willow tree's kindness and wisdom help Young Man.

Willow trees kindness and wisdom helped Young Man by making him happy and helping Young Man to understand what he must do. According to the text, when Young Man approaches the willow tree, he is, "hot, thirsty, and desperate for shade." He then says, "I have failed on my journey." This shows that initially, he was unhappy because he didn't understand his life's purpose and was exhausted from his efforts. The story goes on to say, "He smiled as he now understood that he must age like the wise tree and help others find their way when they feel lost and defeated." Therefore, Young Man was happy because the willow tree had shown him his purpose by being kind, generous, and wise.
