• If + past simple + conditional would/could + verb (base form)

• It is used to talk about imaginary situations in the present.

• If I were an animal, I would be a dolphin.

• What would you do if you had a baby now.

• If I saw an alien, I wouldn't believe my eyes.

• I would scream if a dog ran after me.

IMPORTANT: The verb "BE" will always take the form "WERE".

• If I were a dolphin, I would live in the ocean.

• If she were a flower, she would be a rose.

• If he were a color, he would be red.
