Reviewing what was learned: Regular Verbs.

  • Regular verbs are formed

by: The stem and the ending.

  • In Spanish there are three types of ending: AR, ER, IR.

  • HABLAR---> HABL (stem) AR (ending).

  • COMER---> COM (stem) ER (ending).

  • ESCRIBIR---> ESCRIB (stem) IR (ending).

  • When we conjugate a regular verb we leave the stem as it is and change the ending.

Reviewing: Stem Changing Verbs.

  • Irregular verbs change the stem when we conjugate them, for example, from E to IE

  • Pensar (To think\To plan) and is a stem- changing AR verb.

  • PENSAR ---> PENS (stem) AR (ending).

  • The E in the stem changes to an IE in all forms except nosotros and vosotros forms.

  • Ex: (pensar) Yo pienso...

  • It is similar to verb tener (to have) that in is yo form changes from ER to GO.
