Definition
A summary is a shorter way to tell about a passage. It tells the most important details or events in a piece of literature. It does not tell all of the details of a story.

Summary of Passage
A man named William Legrand has some bad luck and loses most of his money. Because he is embarrassed about losing his money, he decides to move from his home in New Orleans to live on a desolate island, called Sullivan's Island.
