THE FORMS OF PAST SIMPLE ARE

REGULAR

Many verbs can be put into the Past Simple by adding "-ed

– This afternoon I played basketball.

– Yesterday it snowed for three hours.

– I loved that film! It reminded me of one I watched last year.

IRREGULAR

Some verbs do NOT end with "-ed” in the Past Simple.

• The most important of these is TO BE

– I / HE / SHE / IT WAS or WASN'T

– WE / YOU / THEY WERE or WEREN'T
