Standards

  • 4.P4U1.1 Develop and use a model to demonstrate how a system transfers energy from one object to another even when the objects are not touching.

  • 4.P4U1.2 Develop and use a model that demonstrates how energy is moved from place to place through electric and magnetic currents.

  • 4.P4U1.3 Develop and use a model to demonstrate magnetic forces

3

Objective

I will be able to identify and match the electric and magnetic forces scope vocabulary words to their definitions and real-world pictures.

4

Electric and Magnetic Forces

What do we think that is?

5

Electric and Magnetic Forces

  • Electricity and magnetism may seem like two very different forces BUT they are actually both part of the same force.

  • Both electric and magnetic forces can be attractive or repulsive.

  • The force of an electric or magnetic charge is greatly affected by the distance between objects.

6

More about Electric and Magnetic Forces

  • There are two types of electric charge: positive and negative.

  • Magnetism is created by moving charges.

  • Opposite charges attract, while like charges repel each other.
