What do you need to know about Ratios?

  • They are a comparison of 2 quantities.

  • Types: Part to Part or Part to Whole/Whole to Part

  • Formats: Fraction form, Word form, Colon form

  • ORDER MATTERS!

What are equivalent ratios?

  • Equivalent ratios are equal in value.

  • You can use multiplication or division to find equivalent ratios.

  • Think of them as equivalent fractions.

  •  57=1521\frac{5}{7}=\frac{15}{21}              3042=57\frac{30}{42}=\frac{5}{7}
