What does it mean that a verb is stative?

The word "hear" requires no action from the subject. It is one of the senses, and you do it even if you don't want to.

The verb "Listen" is an action verb, we get to choose whether we want to listen to something or not...

It can also depend if the verb has an active or a stative meaning..

- The table measures 60x60 cm

- I'm measuring the window to fit the courtines
