What are phrasal verbs?
Basically, phrasal verbs are phrases that indicate action, just like regular verbs.
What differetiantes phrasal verbs from regular verbs, is how phrasal verbs use multiple words to indicate action, whereas regular verbs use a single word.

How do you form a phrasal verb?
Simple, just use any regular verb then add an adverb.
Like this: Get (Verb) + up (adverb) = Get up.
Remember, adverbs are essentially just adjectives for verbs.

How do you form a phrasal verb?
In some phrasal verbs, not only are verbs and adverbs used, but also nouns.
Like this: ask (Verb) + somebody (noun) + out (adverb) = ask somebody out.
The phrasal verb "ask somebody out" means to invite someone on a date.

Now the tricky part about phrasal verbs is...
There are literally hundreds of them.
All with different meanings.
Just like with irregular verbs, the only way to learn more about phrasal verbs is through memorization and practice.

Examples of phrasal verbs:
ask around = ask many people the same question
add up to something = equal
break down = stop functioning / get upset
calm down = relax after being angry
check in = arrive and register at a hotel or airport

A phrasal verb will change its spelling according to the tense being used in a sentence.
