• Elie Wiesel was born in Sighet. His parents were Sarah Feig and Shlomo Wiesel. At home, Wiesel's family spoke Yiddish most of the time, but also German, Hungarian, and Romanian. Elie had three siblings. Two older sisters and one younger sister.
