Slope Formula

• Label your points before plugging it into the formula (the order matters)

• Remember, there has to be a minus sign in the middle even if one of the numbers is negative

• Simplify your answer at the end

Slope from a graph

• Is the slope positive or negative? (Hint, which direction is it point UP toward?)

• Rise over Run - Count the number of points over and then the number of points up until you get to the next point. You might have to simplify the fraction

Weird Slopes

• Zero Slope = Horizontal Line

• Undefined Slope = Vertical Line

Comparing Steepness

• Does not matter if it is positive or negative

• The LARGER number is always the steeper slope
