The process or action of adding something to something else to get a sum.

Parts of an addition equation

The numbers being added- 1 + 7 = 8

The addition sign (Plus sign)- 1 + 7 = 8

The equal sign- 1 + 7 = 8

The sum- 1 + 7 = 8

Addition Examples

• 1+7=8

• 2+5=7

• 10+40=50

• 12+2=14
