  • There are three groups which paygrades are divided into:

  • Enlisted [E1 - E9c]

  • Warrant Officers [WO1 - CWO5]

  • Paygrades can be viewed as a simplified code that allows one to find out an individual's rank

  • A Straight Vertical Line implies the highest WO rank

  • Otherwise, the number of small black squares show the difference in rank insignia/authority
