Surface Area

The total area of the surface of a three-dimensional object.

We have two types of Surface Area

• Total Surface Area- The total area of each face of the 3D figure.

• Lateral Surface Area- The area around the 3D figure. (Doesn't include the top or bottom of the figure)

P- Represents Perimeter of the base

B- Represents Area of the base

l- Represents the Slant Height

h- Represents Height

r- Represents Radius

Prism

We name the prism based off of the two congruent bases.

Pyramid

Pyramids are also named by their base. The difference is a Pyramid only has one base and all edges meet at a single point.

Cylinder

Similar to a prism it is solid object with two congruent bases. (Bases will be circles)

Cone

Like a pyramid it also has one base that meets up to one single point. (the base will be a circle)

Sphere

It has no edges or vertices (corners)

It has one surface(not a "face" as it isn't flat)
