When and how to use it

Why do we use it?

We use 'Used to + infinitive' to talk about past situations and habits which have now changed. 'Used to' tell us that something is different in the past.

Examples

• I used to be very thin. (I was thin in the past, but I'm not thin now)

• He didn't use to go to the gym. (He didn't go to the gym in the past, but now he goes to the gym)
