YR 9 -Chemistry revision - Chemical formulae

2
Moles
A mole is just a (very large) number of particles.
Amount of substance is measured using a unit called the mole (mol for short) and given the symbol n.
One mole is roughly 6×10^23 particles which is Avagadro's constant
3
Molar mass
Molar mass is just the same as relative molecular mass (Mr)
Molar Mass of CaCO3 is 40.1 + 12 + (3 x 16) = 100.1g/mol
Moles= Mass/(Molar Mass (Mr))
