Janet sold 650 tickets in 3 days. She sold twice as many tickets on Sunday than on Monday.She sold 50 fewer tickets on Tuesday than on Sunday. How many tickets did she sell on Monday?

650 + 50 = 700
5 units = 700
1 unit =  $700\ \div\ 5\ =\ 140$  

Janet sold 140 tickets on Monday.

Simon has four times as much money as Kevin.If Kevin has $348, how much money should Simon give to Kevin so that both have the same amount of money?$522

$1392 − $348 = $1044
Simon has  $1044 more than Kevin.

$1044 $\div2\$  = $522
Simon should give $522 to Kevin so that both have the same amount of money.

Gilbert and Shawn had 86 stickers altogether.

After Gilbert gave 20 stickers to Shawn, he had 12 fewer stickers than Shawn. How many stickers did Gilbert have at first?

86 – 12 = 74

2 units = 74

1 unit = 74 ÷ 2 = 37

Finally, Gilbert had 37 stickers.

37 + 20 = 57

So, Gilbert had 57 stickers at first.

3 identical storybooks and 5 identical notebooks have a massof 2450 g.The total mass of 1 storybook and 1 notebook is 670 g.Find the mass of 1 storybook.

Mass of 3 books and 3 notebooks is 2010 g.
2450 – 2010 = 440
2 units = 440
1 unit =  $440\div2$  = 220
Mass of 1 notebook is 220 g.
670 – 220 = 450
Mass of 1 book is 450 g.

Ethan, Sasha and Jonathan shared 150 buttons. Ethan received 18 fewer buttons than Sasha. Jonathan received twice as many buttons as Sasha. How many buttons did Ethan receive?

18 × 3 = 54

4 units = 150 – 54 = 96

1 unit = 96 ÷ 4 = 24

Ethan (1 unit) = 24,Ethan received 24 buttons.

A blouse cost $53 and a dress cost twice as much as the blouse. Vera bought 2 such dresses and a blouse. How much change did Vera receive if she paid with a $1000 note?

1 unit = $53

5 units = $53 × 5

= $265

The total cost of the items Vera bought was $265.

$1000 – $265 = $735

She received $735 change.
