• Examples of reforms: Women's rights

• BLM

Revivals: religious gatherings

• Preachers shared ideas of how to change the world

Social Reform also includes: Changing Education

• Reformers wanted to improve the quality of learning

• attendance would not be mandatory for school

Horace Mann

• The leader of educational reform

• Believed edu.was key to wealth & opportunity

• 1st Normal school- school for training teachers(1839)
