Interpret
As we read we must interpret the text to determine what it means. Is the author being literal or figurative? The interpretation should be based on textual evidence.

A critical issue
One danger in sea level increases comes from the Greenland and the Antarctic ice sheets, which contain close to 99 percent of all the world’s fresh water. When the Antarctic melts, climate experts state that sea levels can rise to 200 feet and more. Greenland’s melting ice sheet will add another 20 feet to sea level rise. So all together, the melting of polar ice caps effects would include sea levels rising 220 feet or more worldwide.
