What is light?
Light is a very important energy source that keeps us warm and lets us see the world. Light travels in waves in bundles of energy called photons. Those photons contain all seven colors in the rainbow. Grab a prism and check them out!

Vocabulary
Prism: a clear glass or plastic shape that bends or breaks it up into the colors of the spectrum.
Laser: a concentrated beam of light
Wavelength: the distance between one crest of a wave and the next.
Pigment: a substance that gives color to something.
Spectrum: the range of colors that is revealed when light shines through a prism or through drops of water.
Color: a property of an object that reflects light of a certain wavelength.
