Future Perfect Tense

What is it, and how do we use it?

media

2

What is the future perfect tense for?
  • To talk about the past, but in the future.

  • Like this: I will have finished my homework by tomorrow night.

  • The subject is talking about how in the future (tomorrow night) he will be done with his homework (which means, finishing the homework will be in the past).

3

How do we form the future perfect tense?
  • subject + will + have + past participle + rest of the sentence

  • James (subject) + will + have + call (past participle) + me by 2 PM (rest of the sentence).

  • James will have called me by 2 PM.

4

One more thing...
  • No matter what the subject is (he/she/it/we/they/them/I/you), the future perfect tense always uses 'WILL HAVE'.

5

Let's practice for a bit, shall we?
