Complex Sentences
A complex sentence contains an independent clause and a dependent clause
Dependent clauses are started with subordinating conjunctions
Dependent clauses can also start with a relative pronoun or a relative adverb

Subordinating Conjunctions
Subordinating conjunctions tell where, when, why, or how
AAAWWUBBIS: after, although, as, when, while, until, before, because, if, since
Can be in the beginning or the middle of a complex sentence
If the subordinating conjuction appears at the beginning of the sentence, a comma should follow the end of the dependent clause
Example: After she went to the beach, Ms. Banker went home to watch some TV.
