ENLARGEMENT
Enlargement is a type of transformation which changes the size of the object.
It is also known as "dilation".
8
9
Horizontal and vertical stretches are NOT considered enlargements.
10
For an object to be enlarged, all its sides must be multiplied by the same amount.
11
The number which multiplies the dimensions is known as the scale factor of enlargement.
Here both length and breadth have been multiplied by 2, so we say that the object has been enlarged by a scale factor of 2.

a) Yes, B is an enlargement of A.
b) Scale factor of enlargement is 2.

17
18
a) Yes, B is an enlargement of A.
b) Scale factor of enlargement is 2.
19
20
a) No, B is not an enlargement of A as the width has doubled but the height has trebled.
21
22
a) No, B is not an enlargement of A as they are congruent shapes and for an enlargement the scale factor ≠ 1.

Q1)
Scale factor of enlargement = 2
So multiply all lengths by 2.

Q4)
Scale factor of enlargement = 3
So multiply all lengths by 3.
30

Q5) Scale factor of enlargement = 5
. So multiply all lengths by 5.

Answer: R' is incorrect. R and S are vertically in line with each other.
R' and S' must be too, therefore, one of them must be incorrect. To get from Q to R, the coordinates are +5 in the x-direction and -2 in the y-direction. As the enlargement is a scale factor of 2, to get from Q' to R' should be +10 in the x-direction and -4 in the y-direction. But this is not the case as it is +9 in the x-direction and -4 in the y-direction.
34
Answer: R'(13,2)
