Electrical Energy

2
Electrical Energy
Energy resulting from a flow of energy charge through a wire or another medium.
An example of this is when the light bulb illuminates (lights up) after being connected to the battery.
The energy from the battery flows through the wires, allowing the light bulb to work.
3
Circuit
This is the path that allows electricity to flow from one point to another.
Electricity moves through circuits.
Closed Circuit: a continuous path that allows electricity to flow.
Open Circuit: a broken path in which the electricity cannot flow through.
4
In your Electrical Energy experiment
The light bulb illuminates because the energy flows from the battery to the wire, and onto the light bulb.
The energy travels in a closed circuit, since the energy is able to flow in a continuous path until it reaches the light bulb.
If it is an open circuit, the light bulb would not be able to illuminate.
5
Multiple Choice
What is a Circuit?
It is when light bounces from one object to another.
It is a path that allows electricity to flow from one point to another.
It is a force that keeps objects on the ground.
It is the energy that causes things to combust.
6
Multiple Choice
Which statement best describes Electrical Energy?
Energy stored in an object due to its height above the earth.
Energy that is possessed by an object due to motion or position. This involves kinetic and potential energy.
Energy that is released during a reaction often in the form of heat.
Energy resulting from a flow of energy charge through a wire or other medium.
