Querer (to want/to love)
Querer when expressed as a want, can be used by itself or with another verb
Note Querer (+infinitive) this can be used with another verb
Ex: Yo quiero un libro or Yo quiero practicar el ensayo.
Querer when a expressed to say you love someone, you need the personal "a", because the person is receiving the action of love.
EX: Yo quiero a Kevin.
13
Preferir
Note Preferir (+infinitive) can be used with another verb or by itself.
Ex: Yo prefiero la clase de español or Yo prefiero dormir en clase.
You can also use preferir with a person, and the meaning is still the same, no change. Again remember the personal "a".
Ex: Yo prefiero a la Sra. Galindo.
14
Jugar (to play)
When we want to express that we play a game/activity/sport, we must use the preposition "a" + definite article
With the preposition a followed by the definite article, we need to remember the rule of a+el
Ex: Yo juego al futbol.
Ex: Yo juego a la pelota.
15
Comenzar and Empezar
These two verbs, can be used alone or with another verb (+infinitive)
Rule is, if its used with another verb (+infinitive), then you need to use the preposition "a"
Ex: Yo comienzo la tarea (no 2nd verb & no need for a)
Ex: Yo comienzo a prepapar la tarea.
16
Pensar=to think
When its used with different prepositions, the meaning changes.
Pensar en- to think about someone/something
Ex: Pienso en Maria.
Pensar que- to think of (express opinion)
Ex: Pienso que la tarea es más importante que la prueba.
Pensar (+infinitive)- to plan/intend to do something
Ex: Yo pienso leer el libro.
