  • This is a sukkah that has סכך on different levels.

  • What does that look like?

וְשֶׁצִּלָּתָהּ מְרֻבָּה מֵחַמָּתָהּ, כְּשֵׁרָה

  • Or a sukkah that has more shade than sunlight...

  • Both the disorderly sukkah and this one are כשרים.

  • Can you think of a question on this last case? Hint: think back to the very first משנה we have learned this year.

הַמְעֻבָּה כְמִין בַּיִת, אַף עַל פִּי שֶׁאֵין הַכּוֹכָבִים נִרְאִים מִתּוֹכָהּ, כְּשֵׁרָה

  • A thick סכך sukkah, so thick that it is almost as though you are inside a house, is kosher EVEN if you can't see the stars.

  • Wait! I thought you have to be able to see the stars through the סכך?!?!

You should be able to see the stars through the סכך, but if you can't the sukkah is still kosher.
