• Example: Salir (To go out)

  Él salió anoche con sus amigos. \ He went out with his friends.

• We need the accent for Yo, Él, Ella, Usted forms to empathize past pronunciation and grammar (-í, -ió).

• The Spanish accent always goes to the right.

Preterite Tense

• 1. Identify the infinitive (-ER, -IR)

• 2. Drop the -ER or -IR

• 3. Add the endings that correspond to the subjects.
