“I knew for certain now that I wanted to be a political leader. I felt the word politics had a bit of a stain on it, but I would be different. I would do the things politicians only spoke of. And I would start with education—especially girls’ education” pages (123–124).

Politics means the decisions made by those in power.

Malala thinks that the government has made some bad decisions and so its politics are stained by mistakes, things that people will remember for a long time.

“Stain” has a negative connotation; you don’t want something that has a stain on it. This shows that Malala is disappointed in her government and thinks it could be more effective.
