LEGISLATION

  • H&S at Work Act

  • COSHH

  • PPE

  • RIDDOR

13

H&S at Work Act

This protects the well being of employers, visitors and customers (in sport this includes spectators, athletes and staff). Workplaces which neglect health and safety risk prosecution, may lose staff, and may increase costs.

14

COSHH  (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)

The purpose of COSHH is to reduce the number of people who become unwell due to being exposed to harmful substances. Minimising the risks associated with substances that could be potentially hazardous to the health of you and your team members.

15

PPE

Personal protective equipment protects its user (employee/athlete) against any physical harm or hazards that the workplace environment may present. In sport this can relate to any protective equipment that you are required to wear.

16

RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Regulations)

The legislation is important because it holds employers responsible for negligence or bad working behaviours. Reporting all injuries allows prompt medical treatment. Accidents must be investigated and their causes found to prevent the same accident happening again.
