Time to dive back into the world of the ~Relative Pronoun~

What is a Relative Pronoun?

Almost all adjective clauses begin with a relative pronoun, like that. Relative pronouns can’t replace nouns the way that subject and object pronouns replace nouns. Instead relative pronouns are like a bridge that leads you from the noun to new information about that noun

The Relative Pronouns we will be discussing are:

which

First up: Who

Relates back to the SUBJECT of the sentence!

Example:

Lebron, who practiced ballet, moves gracefully.

Who Formula: Who + verb + object

who + practiced + ballet

Second: Whom

Relates back to the OBJECT of the sentence.

Example: My brother, whom I will miss, left for college today.

Whom Formula: Whom + Subject + Verb

Whom + I + will miss

Third: That

Relates to people, animals, and things

Example: The jacket that Lana bought was very warm.

That Formula: that + subject + verb

that + Lana + made

Fourth: Which

Relates to animals and objects

Example: Good restaurants, which Paul enjoys, are everywhere.

Formula: which + verb + adjective OR which + noun + verb

which + Paul + enjoys
