Remember how to count to 20

• If you know how to count 20 then after that the same pattern repeat. Then, all you need to remember is:

• 20 = vingt

• 30 = trente

• 40 = quarante

• 50 = cinquante

• 60 = soixante

Remember that when you have number with 2 digits, you need an hyphen (-) when you write the word

• 24 = vingt-quatre

• 35 = trente-cinq

• 42 = quarante-deux

• 57 = cinquante-sept

• 63 = soixante-trois

But! When the second digit is 1, you use "et" inbetween the 2 words

• 21 = vingt et un

• 31 = trente et un

• 41 = quarante et un

• 51 = cinquante et un

• 61 = soixante et un

Once you know how to 60, you know how to count to 100!

• There are no words in French for 70, 80, and 90....

• Instead, we use math!

• 70 is 60+10 = soixante-dix

• 80 is 4x20 = quatre-vingts

• 90 is 4x20+10 =quatre-vingt-dix

• 100 = cent (think of cents, percent, 100%)

EXCEPTIONS

• Note that as opposed to the other number 81 and 91 are exception and use the hyphen instead of "et"

• 81 = quatre-vingt-un

• 91 = quatre-vingt-onze

• quatre-vingts (80) ends with [s] but the s disappear when it is followed by another number

• 80 = quatre-vingts

• 83 = quatre-vingt-trois

DON'T FORGET TO USE HYPHEN IN BETWEEN EACH WORDS!!!
