To form the past continuous we always need

verb to be + ING

Remember some rules when adding -ing

1. if the word ends in "e" we have to remove it

e.g.: dance----dancing

2. If the word ends with a combination of CONSONANT-VOWEL-CONSONANT I have to double the last letter

e.g.: run----running
