Hi. My name is Stephen. I collect coins. I got the idea from my parents, who travel a lot. They always come back from trips with some coins in their pockets. Besides, my dad believes that whenever you spot a coin in the street you need to pick it up. This is for luck. Once he picked up a coin from Lithuania in our supermarket.

I didn't think about the coins as a collection when they were in a bowl in my parents' bedroom. Then one day Dad brought them out to the living room and we spent a long evening sorting them out. I was surprised at how much information they gave. Dad placed a world map on the floor and we marked all the countries where the coins came from.

29

Now I've got coins from 22 countries. All my relatives and friends bring me coins from different countries. I always try to find out where the country of the new coins lies.

Collecting coins has also helped me in my classes. I know the world map better than my mates. And when Mr Watts talked about American presidents last week, I felt so good when I could name some of them.

I'm not especially interested in old or rare coins. But I keep some Estonian kroons and cents in my collection.
