About I WISH

  • It is used with PAST SIMPLE for the things in the present we'd like to change.

  • It can also be used with PAST CONTINUOUS to talk about something is going happen and we regret, and as with Second Conditional we often use WERE instead of WAS for subjects I, he, she and it.

  • Finally, I WISH is used with PAST PERFECT to talk about something in the past we regret doing or not doing.
