  • It is used to emphasize urgency or importance.

  • It used with certain verbs: advise, ask, command, request, desire, insist, propose, suggest, urge, insist, demand...

  • These expression are frequently followed by the subjunctive: it is + important/ essential/vital/ crucial/desirable, of vital importance/necessary/ recommendable/ required/ mandatory.
