Meeting Agenda

  • Weekend Update

  • Re-teach

3

Weekend Update

  • Tell us what you did on your weekend

4

Perimeter

  • Forget about the formulas, we're going to focus on the basics!

  • Perimeter is the distance around an object.

  • It's like building a fence. If you want to build a fence you need to know how long each side needs to be.

  • To know the total distance around a shape you must ADD up all the sides.

5

Perimeter

  • Add all the sides together

  • To show your work you must show you adding the sides together

  • P = 4 + 6 + 5

  • P = 15 cm

  • Your answer on a test should look like this

Area

  • Area is the space inside of a 2-D (flat) shape

  • Rember the garden? Area is measuring how big the garden itself is, not the area around it.

  • All you need to remember is the formula A = L x W

  • L means Length it is the long side of the rectangle

  • W means width it is the short side of the rectangle

10

Area

  • To find the area of a rectangle all you need to do is remember the formula A = L x W.

  • A = L x W

  • = 10 x 3

  • = 30 ft2ft^2

  • Your answer on a test should look like above

Volume

  • Volume is the amount of space inside a 3D shape

  • To find the volume of a rectangular prism you need to remember the formula V = L x W x H

  • L means the length

  • W means the widgth

  • H means the height

15

Volume

  • To find the volume all you need to remember is V = L x W x H

  • V = L x W x H

  • = 4 x 2 x 1

  • = 8  mm3mm^3

  • This is exactly what your answer should look like. Write the formula. Show your work. include measurement and cubed.
