Rational Numbers
A rational number is a number that can be written as a fraction. This includes:
Whole numbers: 2, 4, 100. It can also be negative integers such as -2, -4, and -100
Fractions: 1/2, 3/4
Decimals that end: 2.5, -0.5
Decimals that go on with a repeating pattern: 0.3333...., 1.41414141
Square Roots that we know the exact value. 49 , 25
3
Irrational Numbers
An irrational number is a number that CAN NOT be written as a fraction. This includes:
Decimals that go on without a repeating pattern: 3.14807538921.
Square roots that we do not know the exact value for: 3 , 5

Different Types of Rational Numbers
Natural, Whole, Integer
A natural number is a counting number. It starts from 1 (1,2,3,4,5.........)
A whole number: A counting number or zero. (0, 1, 2, 3, 4......)
An integer is a whole number or its negative. ( ...... -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3.....)
