TEMPERATURE VS HEAT

What's the difference?

40

Slide image

41

How do heat and temperature affect change of state of matter?

42

When heat is applied to a substance, temperature will increase.

This increases the energy in the particles of a substance which will cause the particles to vibrate faster.

When particles vibrate faster, the bond between the particles will be weaken and they will start to move away from each other.

Thus, change of state of matter happens.
