2

What is Electricity?

  • It is the presence and motion of matter that has a property of electric charge.

  • Electricity is related to magnetism, both being part of the phenomenon of electromagnetism

3

Two types of electricity

  • Static ElectrIcity-is an imbalance of electric charges within or on the surface of a material. The charge remains until it is able to move away by means of an electric current or electrical discharge.

  • Current Electricity-An electric current is a stream of charged particles, such as electrons or ions, moving through an electrical conductor or space.

4

What is Magnetism?

  • It is a class of physical attributes that are mediated by magnetic fields.

  • Electric currents and the magnetic moments of elementary particles give rise to a magnetic field, which acts on other currents and magnetic moments.

  • Spinning magnets produces electric charge.

  • Magnetism is one aspect of the combined phenomenon of electromagnetism

5

What is electromagnetism?

  • Is a process where a magnetic field is created by introducing the current in the conductor.

  • When a conductor is electrically charged it generates magnetic lines of force of conductor.

  • Electric current current produces magnetic fields, while spinning magnets produces electric charges. Due to this electricity and magnetism are related

  • When you combine electricity and magnetism you get electromagnetism

6

What is Maglev train?

  • Maglev is short for (magnetic levitation)

  • it is a system of train transportation that uses two sets of magnets:

  • one set to repel and push the train up off the track, and another set to move the elevated train ahead, taking advantage of the lack of friction.

  • It move up to 300 miles per hour! It can travel from Brooklyn to Bronx nonstop in 5 Minutes.
